So.. It’s Day 71 actually now that it’s already Tuesday Aug 31. I’m already breaking one of the rules.. that is to get a Good night’s sleep by sleeping early and not opening laptop or watching TV even if the sleep eludes you for any reason ..

Anyway.. with the OMRON HJ113 with me for most part of the day.. I get to know now how horrible my situation is.. for the last 3 days..I’ve just managed about 2K steps /day.. thats what I normally walk around the home + grocery shopping or the temple visit!!!

Saturday night also received the Zumba fitness DVD package.. opened it enthusiastically but not used it yet..not even loaded the DVDs into the DVD player yet :(

Have gone back to the bad habit of 2-3 cups of coffee/day and the whole day on the couch with the FV :(

Opened the food journal book and marked the entries like the wt. and all that I wanted to keep an update everyday like..

  1. No. of  Steps
  2. Exercise Done – SI6/ZUMBA/Gym or any other form of physical activity
  3. Stairs taken
  4. Green Tea
  5. Glasses of Water

But then didn’t update anything at all and couldn’t sleep with the thoughts of not doing anything but just planning or simply making lists .. so thought of reprimanding myself and gicvng myself yet another wake up call!!!

Fresh Start

Hopefully from today I should be able to get back to an exercise regimen again..

Got my order of the OMRON  HJ 113 Pedometer and should help me in getting back to atleast taking those 10K steps per day.

For the last few days since the last weekend .. its not going good with the diet and the exercise.. Weekend was fun at M’s brother’s house but disaster in terms of the Diet. Munched on the chips on the drive to Nebraska and had dinner later in the night at almost 1.30 AM :( and then the morning started off with coffee and breakfast. Late lunch with the noodles and  heavy dinner at a Thai restaurant and then had Fruit salad with ice cream late in the night and slept late at around 1 AM. The positive for the day was the walking around in the Zoo for most part of the day.

Next day was all about eating again :) Sumptuous lunch followed by heavily loaded chocolate cake in the evening. So dinner was a lil light with the pita bread and salad but with the Ranch :(

and for the last 4 days we have just been talking about walks except for Tuesday when we went for a nice long walk after dinner.

And by myself.. am back to my original routine of being a couch potato.. getting up a lil late.. like by 7.45-8 AM , having a mug of coffee… skipping breakfasts and munching on the banana, biscuits and having coffee again :( I can see the impact of that with the retuning of the light heart burns.. and then hooked on to the FV and not moving around much.. late evening showers.. etc etc.. :( :(

So it should be a Good start from today towards a better health with the baby ‘steps’!!

Bright side :) – Got my hair colored and eye brows done… which made me get out of the pathetic mood that I’m in for the last 2-3 days..

Not going great

Yesterday.. it was the rain.. which spoilt my plans of walking/exercising…and then in the evening AGT stopped us from hitting the gym

Today.. its me!! the monthly issue made me couch-ridden for the day. didn’t even cook properly and ate the bananas and drank juice, almond milk etc etc,

Anyway.. I ordered the OMRON HJ-113 finally from Amazon yesterday…Hope that helps me get back on track.. Also have figured out the armband that I want for the iPhone 4.. well the thought of becoming a statistic keeps coming back to me..buying things, starting with a bang and letting the days just pass by without much happening…

I need to get the YMCA membership without fail so that I don’t let the summer days pass by with swimsuit just hanging in the closet!!

Lost the Day counts..

Normally.. this would’ve been a time to cozy up in the couch with a big mugful of coffee made with 100% just milk, 2-2 spoons of sugar and instant coffee powder, watching the re-runs of those sitcoms on TBS… but after starting this journey of getting better health, today morning I got ready, tied my shoe laces and was out and down those stairs and stepped out for walking… BUT :( i had hardly took 100-200 steps and it started raining and so I’m back at home and decided to update here instead of opening the Facebook and getting busy collecting the Bushels!!!!

While leaving I was thinking of updating the FB status as ‘Half the battle is won the moment I tie my shoe laces and am down those stairs..’ So true.. right?

I’ve been composing many a posts while I’m running errands at home but when I open my laptop the only webpage that gets opened is the Facebook(precisely.. Farmville). Have to sdo something about breaking this addiction.. my dad isn;t helping but adding to it with almost 17 accounts between us :( :(

I was also thinking about writing about the ‘purchases’ I want to do to help me keep going on this journey.. I have already spent enough but like other things in life this want list seems to be endless!!!

[1] Ordered Zumba DVDs from Zumbafitness.com yesterday evening [ After 3 sessions of Zumba at the Patterson Park Center at Murfreesboro, TN I have been looking for the same kind of sessions here at our base location now that we're back home and I didn't want to miss that fun but draining physical activity.. was searching for that on the net and switched on the TV and some channel that I had never seen before came up and was airing the infomercial for the Zumba Fitness DVDs!!!!. After much deliberation of whether or not to... I succumbed and ordered it along with the extra 2 music CDs!! at a total cost $94!!!]

[2] I’ve been looking for Swimming Cap, Goggles and Bag (Not sure if I really want to purchase the bag OR do with the backpack my ex-company had given)

[3] Badly want to buy a good PEDOMETER. Thinking of checking out the OMRON ones

[4] Want to buy a shoulder strap for the iPhone and if affordable, a Bluetooth headset as well

[5] Thinking if I need to get the Remote Chargers for the Wii Remotes

Back to business.. My exercising path is looking good though not great.. though not sticking to any particular activity/routine.. I’m ensuring that I get 1-2 hours of physical activity and also pushing myself to not get tethered to the couch and laptop for continuous hours…

At Murfreesboro, for the last 15 days it had been a great start for the day with 1 hour of Water Aerobics and then 30-45 minutes of Breast Stroke swimming.. have to get myslef to re-learn the regular swimming. One good thing was that I learnt to back-float finally.. though with the help of the water weights..

Last evening we also broke our old routine of sitting and watching TV (I mean here at our house) after M comes back from office.. instead we had early dinner at around 6.30 PM and then after his couple of emails and my FV things.. we went to the gym at around 8.30 PM and worked out a lil on treadmill, bike and tried out few weight training machines. M initiated it finally and it felt good after the work-out though not a very calorie burning activity but atleast we are taking the baby steps!!

I did feel a lil bit of uneasiness with the heartburn kinda feeling again (which had almost disappeared while I was at Mfboro) but I think that was to do with the mug of coffee that I had with the Rice Milk!! in the evening when I was craving for something!!

Have to

  • Check on the YMCA membership here
  • Look for a Doc and get the thorough health check up done including all the BP/Cholesterol etc etc
  • Go to the library (first figure out where’s the library card!!)
  • Get the Wii Set up at Home
  • Order Online ??? – Swimming Cap, Goggle, Pedometer
  • Update/restart the Food Journal
  • Keep count of the day
  • Weight Chart – now that I have the Digitl Scale at home

Another attempt at walking.. went till the halfway on the Bridge and then it really started pouring heavily.. so had to run back home.. So now.. its time for a Vanilla Almond Rice Coffee!!!!!! -> Vanilla Alomd Milk+ Rice Dream Rice Milk+ Bru Instant Coffee………  its raining outside and here inside the suggested related posts are all talking about Coffee.. so can I dare?

DAY 42

Hmmmm… I guess I’m also falling into a statistic as much as try Not to be..

Starting off things with a BANG but not keeping up with it.. its already Day 42 and the last I had written was Day 10!!! Well everything is not completely lost.. I’m keeping up with the exercise routine but foodwise thing are not going great though well under control!! and the food journaling.. well is in the real Journal – Book and writing down everyday (missed updating only 2 days but got back to regularity now)

Everyday there’s a post that’s written in the mind but never got them on to here. Hope I try a lil harder and better from today

Day 10

Started with Green Tea. Did the Start it Up routines but less effort.. 10 -12 reps wherever it was 16 reps.. then went to the Gym.. 30 minutes on treadmill with varying speeds and inclines and then back home

Talked to parents.. FV and the cooking. After lunch was feeling a little sleepy and knees were starting to tell me that they hurt :(   took bath.. watched Oz and Oprah and walked around the house and stairs.. tried the watch again and it got stuck after 250 steps and wouldn’t budge ahead.. so for sure Returning it tomorrow..

munched some guacamole chips, 3-4 Parle G biscuits, some almonds and then 1/2 cup blue/blackberry smoothie with 2 spoons of yogurt and 2-3 spoons of mango juice mixed in and tried in the new Blender :) liked it and made hubby also drink it in the evening.. had read a lot of smoothie recipes today and was wondering how many varieties can be tried with some 10 different fruits :)

Had dinner by 7.30-7. 45 PM but no walking/strolling again today.. watched America’s Got Talent.. and then went to Kroger and bought loads of fruits, oatmeal(for the first time ever) and some nuts (almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds)

Hope I like /tolerate the taste of oatmeals and would be able to keep up with it in my routine

Day 9

Day 6 & 7 – weekend at Atlanta. Food – no control. The Coca Cola tour, CNN tour and walking around the Atlanta Botanical Garden were the only exercises for those 2 days

Day 8 – Did do start it up but didn’t try any other ones. Walk around in the Wal Mart. Bought the Blender. Also bought the S12 sportline heart rate monitor pedometer watch but was ready to get it back by the evening. it sucks.. will return it tomorrow

Day 9 – Dropped Hubby to the office, went to the Farmer’s market in our area and bought some squashes and berries .. Happy I started to try out these blue and blackberries..

Had coffee. Didn’t go by the DVD. Went to the gym.. interval walking on treadmill.. some stretches, weights and squats…

Then by 12.. there was a dent again.. Went to Snappy Tomato for lunch with hubby’s colleagues and devoured 5 slices of spinach and veggie pizza & couple of bread sticks.

8 times- stairs; water – 8+ glasses; some resistance routines with the resistance bands

Dinner: Puliyogare and some cure rice.. done by 7 PM :)

Now.. it would be Losing with Jillian and then America’s got talent and then some walking

Day 5

Did the routines with 50-60% effort and minimal breaks in between; Also managed the Ab routines though push was only about 25% :(

NEGATIVE For the day:

Not much controlled food. Finished the leftovers, had some Carrot Halwa.  Also in the evening food outside.. Chat(Dahi batata puri), Tomato/Peas Utthhappa and Full Tea.

Also had coffee in the mid afternoon

Highlight of the Day:

Some more online reading.. got to understand/know the different nutrients, minerals in various vegetables and fruits

Day 4

While brushing 2 thoughts were going in my mind.. coffee/green tea and whether to do the DVD routines in the 2 hour between dropping my husband at office at 7.30 AM and my photography class at 9.30 AM BUT.. didn’t heed to any of the Good that my mind was telling me .. had 1/2 cup of coffee and after dropping my husband logged on to FB and logged in to skype and talked to my mom .. got ready and went to the class..

Then picked up husband and 12 and he had lunch while I had a glass of Mango juice. Dropped him at office again and went to the Mall.. returned the Pedometer at GNC and bought Flaxseed. Have to check how to use it from tomorrow.

NEGATIVE For the day:

ABSOLUTELY NO EXERCISE :(

Highlight of the Day:

Again.. some difference in the weighing machine.. this time checked at the mall with the machine that uses the Quarter and it said 161.3 Lbs.. have to wait till I get back home for a daily weighing and accurate tracking..

Read some chapters on ‘YOU: On a diet’ in the book shop
